About

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar has a vast exposure in the field of Oncology with 15 years of surgical experience. He is among the few oncologist in North India who specialises in Gastro-intestinal oncology, Colo-rectal cancer, Pelvic cancer, Robotic surgery, Advanced Laparoscopic surgery and HIPEC / PIPAC procedures. He has been trained at the prestigious Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, India from where he received his MCh, Surgical Oncology degree after which he worked in the department of Gastro-intestinal Oncology, Tata Memorial. He gained expertise in various subspecialities of Gastro-intestinal GI cancers – upper GI, Pancreatic, Hepatobiliary, Colorectal, Robotic surgery & Advanced laparoscopy and HIPEC / PIPAC procedures.

He has worked independently at many high volume cancer centers across India. Presently, he works at Max Super Speciality Hospital Dwarka, Delhi as Associate Director and Unit Head Surgical Oncology, GI & HPB Oncology, Robotic Cancer Surgeon & HIPEC Specialist. He is looking after abdominal and Pelvic cancers. He is a Robotic Surgeon and HIPEC specialist.

He is a believer of Prescision Oncology and function preservation surgeries. He is a trained certified daVinci Robotic cancer surgeon and is driving the Robotic GI Cancer Surgery programme. He is a proponent of Minimal Access Surgery, Fluorescence / Image guided surgery and advanced laparoscopy & VATS ( Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery ) for gastro-intestinal cancer. He advocates nerve preservation approach and sphincter saving surgeries for rectal cancer viz., Ultra-low anterior resection and inter-sphincteric resections giving the best bowel, bladder and sexual function & Quality of Life to the patients.

He has a keen interest in the management advanced, recurrent and metastatic stage 4 abdominal & pelvic cancers. He has been awarded with the ESSO (European Society of Surgical Oncology) fellowship for Peritoneal surface oncology and HIPEC suegery and has been involved in the formation of Peritoneal Surface Oncology Unit. He is among the few who is a trained & certified for PIPAC procedures by the international body. He has been routinely performing all kinds of major and supra-major surgeries viz., Extended resections, Multi-visceral resections, Vascular resections, Pelvic exenteration, Cyto-reductive surgery and HIPEC / PIPAC surgeries for various cancers.

He is actively involved in academic and research. He is driving various projects & studies with many international publications. He is the recipient of multiple awards. He is also an active member of various national and international bodies. He follows an ethical approach towards managing his patients and is driven by patient satisfaction and good functional results.
